Drifting Sand
Leaves are falling/Winter’s calling
Hazy sun /low in the sky
I am shipwrecked/ My soul is stranded
Drifting sand is piling high
Drifting sand is piling high
Like a vagrant overstaying
I have nowhere left to go
This is warm and familiar
Like the life I used to know
Like the life I used to know
No I don’t need your forgiveness
Coz I don’t feel any shame
As to how I ended up here
There is only me to blame
There is only me to blame
I am fractured/ I am fallen
Let me lay here with my rye
In the shadows/ In my ruin
Drifting sand is piling high
Drifting sand is piling high

Black Hills
Staring at these black hills/ Rolling out to nowhere
Shaking off my evening chills
Every breath hangs in the air
Headlights come and blur on by
Every hope ends with a sigh
I watch the world pass me by at the edge of this highway
Let these black hills roll on by
Coz tomorrow’s a new day
And the place I thought I’d die
Is far away…far away
Staring at these black hills/ Reaching out to no one
Nothing but the seasons change
Everything else remains the same
People wait for snow to clear
They read their maps then disappear
But I am always here
At the edge of this highway
Let these black hills roll on by
Coz tomorrow’s a new day
And the place I thought I’d die
Is far away…far away
Staring at these black hills / Knowing they lead somewhere
Waiting for the evening chill
As night sounds to fill the air
Tonight I’ll drift with the wind
Rise up and begin again
I’ll sail far away…from the edge of this highway
Let these black hills roll on by
Coz tomorrow’s a new day
And the place I thought I’d die
Is far away…far away

Love Gets In The Way
We might feel worlds apart and see our lives in different ways
One path is always clear/ It keeps us guided through the maze
The ties that bind our hearts will never fray
If we try to pull apart/Love gets in the way
Trees grow in different ways/ Branching out while holding on
Through stormy nights and sunny days/ I’ve watch the roots grow true and strong
The ties that bind our hearts will never fray
If we try to pull apart/Love gets in the way
When dreams I’ve had have crashed and burned
And plans I’ve made have fallen through
The greatest lesson I have learned is I can never lose my love for you
The ties that bind our hearts will never fray
If we try to pull apart/Love gets in the way
The ties that bind our hearts will never fray
If we try to pull apart/Love gets in the way

The Water’s Edge
One delta night in the month of June
Sky was so clear you could kiss the moon
Air was thick as river mud
There was whiskey flowing through my blood
I was having a drink or three out by the chestnut tree
When I looked to the river…. and what did I see?
She went down, down, down to the water’s edge
She took off all her clothes
Down, down, down till she disappeared
Into the river’s flow
I snuck down to the bushes…well what’s a boy to do?
Just a-waiting on her silhouette to back in to view
I watched the ripples fan out and saw the bubbles rise
She vanished in the pale moonlight right before my eyes
She went down, down, down to the water’s edge
She took off all her clothes
Down, down, down till she disappeared
Into the river’s flow
Now when the night’s upon me in the sticky month of June
I go down to the river and stare out at the moon
I watch the ripples fan out and hear the current flow
It’s like your reaching out to a fallen star…you wonder where it goes
We go down, down, down to the water’s edge
We took off all our clothes
Down, down, down till we disappear
Into the river’s flow
Down, down, down to the water’s edge
To the water's edge.
